Molds are fungi that can be found both indoors and outdoors and are part of our natural environment. Molds grow best in warm, damp and humid conditions, and reproduce and spread through the production of spores. Molds have the potential to cause serious health concerns by producing allergens--substances than cause allergic reactions--and in some cases, even toxic substances (mycotoxins).

Inhaling or touching mold or mold spores may cause severe allergic reactions in some people. Allergic reactions to mold may include hay fever-like symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and a skin rash. Molds can also cause asthma attacks for people who have suffer from that particular disease.

It is virtually impossible to get rid of all the mold and mold spores indoors. Some of the mold spores will be found floating through the air mixed with house dust. Indoor mold, can however, be controlled by controlling the amount of moisture indoors. If there is mold growth in your indoor environment, you must clean up the mold AND fix the water problem.
